Thank You For Wanting to Share A Rescue Story!

Things You Should Know Before You Click This Button To Continue
What Do You Need To Do?
- Click the button above to send us a story about a rescue adoption, told in your own words. You alone determine the length of your tale, but you should stick to the point – your readers will appreciate it.
- The story can have taken place in the past, and it can be about anyone with whom you have a personal tie.
- You will need at least one good-quality photo, preferrably
of this human-animal pair, but at least of the pet – one
that captures the special spark. It can be a tender
moment or a wild-and-crazy good-time moment. We want a photo that
makes you smile and say to yourself "Yes – that's what
it's all about." The photo(s) can be sent after the
story is posted – we'll use a cartoon placeholder
until we receive the real thing.
- In recognition that the sole purpose of
this fundraising campaign is to better the lives of rescued animals, by entering your story and photo you give us explicit permission to use the photo and story in the future as long as (a) all money from such use goes directly into rescue programs, and (b) you are notified of such use beforehand.
Example: A calendar or note cards.
- You may need to add "webmaster@animalaidpdx.org" to your email address book / contact list – all of our communications with you over the course of the campaign will be emails, and we want to be sure you receive them.

What Happens Next?
As your story and photo(s) are displayed on this Web site, you will receive an email containing links to both the fundraising page that the public will see, and to your own private Status Report page which only you can see. This page will show all donations made in your honor to date, and includes a way for you to send out email to friends and family explaining the campaign and asking them to make a donation in support of your story.
- All donations in honor of a rescue story will be added to that story's Total Raised figure daily.
- Each donor is only added to a story's Total Supporters count once, no matter how many individual donations that donor makes.
- A simple email will be sent to you alerting you each time a donation is made in your honor.

What Can I Win?
It goes without saying that it won't be money! You'll have to settle for fame and our sincere gratitude. But that doesn't mean there aren't fun things coming your way:
- Thanks to kind sponsors Animal Aid will be awarding several prizes at the end of the program for most funds raised, most individual donors, and other categories that will be rolled out as the campaign progresses.
- Finalists will have professional photos taken by Nina Sage Photography.
- There will also be an assortment of surprise "atta-boy" awards,
given periodically. The criteria for winning these small prizes
will be announced to storytellers in advance via email.

What Defines a "Rescue" Animal?
For the purposes of this campaign, it is any animal removed from a situation in which their quality of life is poor to terminal. This can include taking in the cat left behind when a neighbor moves; an adoption from a local shelter; removing a pet from an abusive family; you get the idea.
We recognize that purchasing a pet from a breeder or pet store may actually be an act of mercy as well, but for this particular campaign we are not looking at cases where a pet was acquired as a purchase from a source whose primary business is the sale of animals. If you have questions about your case, please send the Webmaster an email.
