Samuel, a black cocker spaniel, came into the county animal shelter as a stray. Unfortunately no one came in to claim him. It's hard to imagine someone not missing this gentleman.

He came in with a severe ear infection which he appears to have had a long time and has left him deaf. He also has a hard time seeing and only sees shadows. Samuel was fortunate he was found because he could have been severely injured due to his disability.

He gets along with other dogs and his gentle and calm disposition makes him a great family pet. If you have a lonely canine at home he would make a great companion. Don't let his age fool you, he has plenty of energy for walks, meal times and sniffing grass. Although his vision and hearing is limited, his capacity for love and loyalty is not diminished. The only disability he has is the need to find someone to love. You will not find a more grateful, loyal or loving friend when you adopt Samuel!

Update!

I had the pleasure of having Samuel as a house guest while his foster mom had to go out of town. This gentleman has impeccable house manners and is a joy to be around! He had a spa day with me and enjoyed his bath and allowed all handling. He especially likes a little scratch/rub at the base of his little tail and LOVES belly rubs! Even though his vision is limited, he bravely forges ahead with great confidence. He is an inspiration on how he just charges ahead trusting all to be well and his sweet temperament makes him endearing! He navigates stairs well and after finishing his 'business' outside finds the back door and waits to be let in. He's not a barker and loves to follow you around the house. He has a lovely 'singing' voice and when he is happy he will sing you a little tune ;^). Once you sit down, he is happy to settle down by your feet. If you are looking for a friend, I can not recommend this wonderful gentleman enough!

Samuel is a small-size male whose estimated birth year is 2002. He is adopted, and is currently living with the adoptive family.
