The 2021 Give!Guide
The Give!Guide is Portland’s easiest path to end-of-year giving. Hosted by Willamette Week, this year’s campaign features 204 nonprofits working together toward a goal to fundraise $6.5 million between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31.
Animal Aid is proud and grateful to be among the nonprofits participating in this year’s campaign. Our organizational goal is to raise $20,000, funds which allow us to assist animals who may be struggling in larger shelters and Heartstrings Pets: These may be senior pets getting passed by for the younger animals, formerly abused and neglected pets needing medical or behavior assistance, shy pets requiring extra reassurance and time, or animals with a medical condition.
In 2020, Animal Aid cared for 95 cats and dogs through our rescue and adoption program, provided over $7,000 in financial assistance for urgent medical or behavioral care to 14 pets and their guardians through our Animal Aid Cares Fund, and shared over 2,500 lbs. of pet food and a wide variety of animal care supplies with our 16 It Takes a Pack partners and local animal guardians in need.
Beyond the numbers, the biggest impact that we make in our community is our focus on helping animals who have more extensive medical or behavioral conditions and thus fewer rescue options. By devoting the extra time, care, and resources to them that they need, we’re able to save a life that might otherwise be lost, help bring together a new family when that animal is adopted, and contribute to building a more compassionate community for both the pets and people of Portland.
We hope you’ll join us in showing support for this year’s Give!Guide nonprofits so that we can be stronger together.

Founded in Vancouver, B.C. by passionate vegan foodies Rob Milne and his sons, Virtuous Pie was created to provide great tasting food for our bodies and the planet. From their hand-stretched dough, beloved plant-based cheese, and creamy small-batch ice creams, innovation + surprise are at the core of Virtuous Pie’s culinary efforts.
Inspired by Portland’s love for the outdoors and picnics by the river, the space at Virtuous Pie PDX is a play on a modern picnic, brought to life with the help of local businesses Makelike Designs and Reed LaPlant. Through this space, they seek to bring community together, fostering new conversations and connections through various styles of communal seating.
Virtuous Pie believes in giving back to their local communities and organizations, which is why they dedicate a portion of revenue to like-minded charities in each city they call home.
Virtuous Pie + Animal Aid Give!Guide Partnership: Starting on November 1, in celebration of World Vegan Day and the launch of the Give!Guide, Virtuous Pie will be donating a portion of the proceeds from all sales of their pumpkin ice cream to Animal Aid all month long!
